With the current world economic situation buying property might now be a good idea with prices being more negotiable. Pattaya still has a much better economic outlook than Bangkok at present for a number of reasons. Pattaya and Phuket are still the places most foreigners buy property in Thailand. As for the Bangkok property market, the latest from Umpon Thepnumsommanus, JLL's director of investments was that, "With the political turmoil affecting our top investment-attracting tourism industry, we don't expect to see foreign investors to be back in the next couple of quarters." |

Last week saw the Top of the Gulf sailing event in Pattaya. This year it was held from April 30 to May 4 at the Ocean Marina Yacht Club located south of Jomtien Beach, and again featured the HM The King’s Platu Coronation Cup and the Optimist Thailand National Championships. The local Pattaya muncipality has spent vast amounts of money of the past 5 years upgrading the infrastructure of Pattaya. This year the mayor again pointed out how important it is for government and the private sector to join hands in placing Pattaya in the international arena. The exposure of Pattaya has seen the constant increase in prices over the years and this year even though the market is flat, it will not remain so for too long. |

Thinking of buying property or any real estate in Pattaya, Jomtien or Chonburi Province in Thailand. Then speak to an attorney first as they will be able to assist you better than anyone else. Remember that buying property in Thailand can be very complex and the fact that the property market is not really regulated leaves you open to problems. Not withstanding the fact that there are no safety nets in Thailand as there would be in your home country. As a start, did you know that there is no concept of 'trust accounts' for attorneys in Thailand, hence your money deposited is not protected by any law society. |
